The Cramwinckel Family "Home" Page

Welcome  to the research in the Cramwinckel family

Goal and Purpose
No researcher into family roots is ever likely to call his work exclusively  his own. I therefore, started rather hesitantly  to design this page, knowing that many before me have been busy collecting data, well before the time I became interested in our roots. This page is dedicated to honour all those whose investigations made this possible and to those who carry on investigating .and some still do.
My contribution was to collect all available data  and to put it in a manageable form together , first on the computer (programmes such PAF, and  The Master Genealogist are being used) and now here in this web page. Moreover through several years of research, I was lucky to discover two earlier generations than known so far..
The results of genealogical research - in all its forms - is  most of the time being stashed away in a shoe box, loose leaf bunch of notes  or at best  in a computer file. The real risk is that eventually it gets thrown out because there is - momentarily- no interest in it. Such a shame, when there is always someone in a given generation that will take an interest to it, but would not know where the data is.
The aim of this site is therefore to record the advances in the the family/roots research so far, to exchange information with other interested parties and perhaps, to provoke reactions such as additions, corrections, stories and al other constructive support

• This web site is mainly centring on the descendants of the  Arnoldus Cramwinckel branch, whose origins are in the Wesel a/Rhein (Germany) area (late 17th century). Another branch, Kraamwin(c)kel originating also from the Wesel area, settled through the Netherlands via Utrecht,  around mid 17th century. The descendants of this Frederick Petersen Craemwinckel are most likely family, but  proof has not been found for this hypothesis.
Another similar sounding clan. the Kraewinckels family, lives around the Maasland (river) area, Excellent contacts now exists with this family, but no sibling connection have been established as of this date.
